I’m Léa, a passionate young interior designer architect, with a strong interest in wellness and mental health in the workspace.
In a few words ?
After completing a course in interior design in France, I moved to Ireland to complete a Bsc Honours in interior architecture in the Cork Institute of Technology, from which I graduated in June. My experience allowed me to successfully achieve different projects in retail and commercial design.
Current situation ?
I have recently joined O’Connell Mahon Architects team in Cork, a practice working nationally and with a significant strength in healthcare design. Following some experience at Post Formed Systems Ltd in Ballincollig, which allowed me to gain technical skills, I am enjoying my position as interior architect within OCMA’s design team.
I am currently following an evening course exploring mental health in the community in UCC, which is a partnership with Mental Health Ireland and will allow me to gain knowledge to input into my designs. I have completed a WRAP (Wellness Recovery Action Plan) as part of the process.
I am very efficient on different softwares, such as AutoCAD, Photoshop, SketchUp and the lighting software Shaderlight. I have basic knowledge of Revit, Lumion and Dialux, which I am still learning. I am also a good sketcher, which enables me to show concepts and ideas quickly.
Interior architecture and career goals ?
I have a strong interest in design better workplaces. I have completed a research project on well-being, using the IWBI standards, and am passionate about mental health and management in the professional environment.
I am to combine my knowledge of mental health to my designs in order to create better environments for people, which has a significant impact on their lives. In addition, I also have a particular interest in promoting mental health as management in the workplace.
What about your free time ?
I love gardening and pets, as well as embroidery. I practice yoga weekly and enjoy going for walks in nature. I also like to meet friends in coffee shops to catch up and go on small trips to discover new things.
